When Mr. Devereux was at our Works about a week ago from some quarter or other he gained information that we are likely to run some rods in Duralumin. He was very perturbed that he did not get the chance of making them, and I attach copy of his letter on the subject. I have received from him already a drawing showing how he would suggest the rod ought generally to be made if it followed our usual design. If, of course, we have a centrally bored hole for lubricating the gudgeon pin, this proposal would be slightly modified, but I would like to have E's suggestion so that we can submit same to Mr. Devereux, as I am definitely of the opinion that if we go in for aluminium alloy forged rods Mr. Devereux ought to make them.
