| COPY OF LETTER RECEIVED FROM :- HIGH DUTY ALLOYS LIMITED, 81 BUCKINGHAM AVENUE, SLOUGH, BUCKS. 7th. October 1933. Our Ref. WCD/MHG. Your Ref. BY.10/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} ---------------- Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, Nightingale Road, DERBY. For the attention of R.W. Harvey Bailey, Esq., Dear Sirs, ---------------- RR.56 Connecting Rods - Bentley Chassis. We thank you for your letter of the 6th inst. For your experiments you might decide to make the rods from hand forgings machined all over, as has been done in similar trials, and we shall be glad to put these in hand for you should you so instruct. On the other hand, should you decide to go on with the experiments in the form of stampings, we should only charge you a very nominal amount for the dies, as we realise fully that if you went over to an aluminium alloy rod for any purpose whatever, it would be a very great incentive for others to change, further, that the testing would be so rigorous before you decided, that the information we should gain would be well worth the expenditure that we should be called upon to make for the dies. Yours faithfully, For and on behalf of HIGH DUTY ALLOYS LTD. (signed) W.C. Devereux. Managing Director. | ||
