R Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. CWB.2/Crn.2.9.25. To "OJ" - copy to "BJ". From "CWB" Chassis 9.G.111. "India" 10,000 miles test. The above car met me at Havre yesterday morning, as arranged. Previous running, 17,000 miles with 4-speed gearbox, servo gear, and F.W. Brakes. Day's run 268 miles. Generally, the car is in really good running condition. The following points call for criticism, and attention immediately or in the near future:- 1. Servo gear rattles. These are periodic and objectionable, and spoil the smoothness of running. (Immediate). 2. Servo jagger. (Immediate). 3. Steering - is very good over good roads, with no road shocks. These are so severe on bad roads that they determine the speed at which it is possible to drive the car, i.e. at a speed at which the springs are not bumping (but at which riding is uncomfortable) the car cannot be controlled, owing to the severity of the road shocks on the steering wheel. (Near future). 4. Front wings, and wing stays. These are practically destroyed. (Near future). C.W.B. | ||
