Biraben} ---------- BY.2/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 21.6.33. x7820 Phantom & 20/25 SHOCK DAMPERS - NEW TYPE. -------------------------- It is essential that the modifications which have been issued under cover of BY/HEB.{H. Biraben}1/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} 20.6.33. should be fitted to all chassis before they are despatched from the Works, the reason being that the Experimental Department have found that although this gland has been used on previous dampers without leakage effects, on the type damper leakage starts after a short period and continues regularly with a constant loss of oil, which will ultimately affect the functioning of the damper. The slight modifications called for instructed in the memo quoted above, entirely eliminate this leakage, and must be incorporated before delivery of chassis, so that we will not get complaints from the customer.
