re Sheet Metal Floorboards.

We are having a lot of trouble with sheet metal floorboards deflecting more particularly on the Bentley where it is possible for anybody to get any weight on them.

So far as I am aware we are still using pure aluminium sheet for these pressings, but I think there is much better material available in the form of some of the alloys marketed for general purposes, such as Anti-corrodal, Aluman, and Peraluman, or very possibly Mr Deveraux could provide some of the R.R. alloys in sheet form which would be suitable for making into these floorboards. We should thereby considerably gain on the yield point and probably without much increased expense.

Part of the trouble has been due to the stiffener not reaching completely across to the supports, but I believe this point has now received attention.

At the same time I think we may have to consider corrugating these boards where they may be called upon to carry direct weight, so as to stiffen them against giving way locally.

We are looking into this question of corrugating.
