For the attention of Mr. Hoboton.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to the recent visit to Fort Cumberland to witness the demonstration of your new gun. The question of mounting was discussed with your representative, when we were informed that no mounting had been designed, and we were free to make any proposals we wished. We were subsequently informed that the gun mounting experts at Bath were designing a mounting.

If we can be of any further assistance in this matter, will you please let us know, since it is essential that the mounting be made as light as possible, and we are of the opinion that the present Oerlikon gun mounting, if lightened to save over 100 lbs. in weight, would still have a factor of safety of 12.5. We would stress that, since the gun will be mounted on a lightly constructed wooden boat, a wide base having a number of small holding down bolts is preferred to the base now used on the Oerlikon gun, where a small number of very large bolts are incorporated.

Yours faithfully,

For THE BRITISH POWER BOAT CO. LTD.,

G.S. Selman
Naval Architect.
