X4462 c. to Bs.{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager} Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KT. 13th April 1931. Captain Bowman, The Car Mart Ltd., 46-50, Park Lane, London. W.1. Dear Capt. Bowman, Attached is a copy of a letter forwarded to us from our London Office. You will note that this letter was written by the Birmingham Office of the India Tyre Co. to one of our customers. We take very strong exception to this letter. In the first place we consider that if Mr. Chitty Paine wishes to circularise customers and tell that Rolls-Royce do not know anything about wheels and tyres, and furthermore do not test out thoroughly this part of their equipment, he should at any rate address his observations to Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd. to enable them to discuss the matter with him. We are always perfectly willing to discuss such matters with anyone who supplies accessories for our cars. We may say that we have always found Dunlops' most anxious to assist Co's for whom they work, and when they run in to trouble which effects their replacements of tyres and which they consider justifiably connected with the chassis, refer the matter to us, and there is no difficulty in arriving at the true facts of the case. In view of the very pleasant relations we have always had with The Car Mart, we feel confident that you will endeavour to explain to Mr. Chitty Paine he would have been better advised to have written direct to the firm. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
