LYMAN D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} ADAMS, PRESIDENT F.{Mr Friese} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} RAYMOND, VICE-PRESIDENT WM J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} BLACK, SECRETARY W. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} BARR, TREASURER September 28, 1936. GRY{Shadwell Grylls} Rolls - Royce Ltd., Derby, England. ATTENTION: Mr. S. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Grylls. Gentlemen: - This will acknowledge the receipt of your letter of September 18th. We will be glad to co-operate with you in the spring design you mentioned, and will do this work as soon as possible and forward you two lots of springs. The first of these will be to your print, and the second will be a design variation with a somewhat higher natural vibration rate. We will write you when these are shipped, giving you specifications for both material and dimensions. We have the record for the springs given Mr. Robotham on January 24th, 1934. It is as follows: Wire .162 C.S.V.2 specification. Large end fit 1-3/32 cap. Free Length 2" Small end fit 63/64" " Ends squared and ground. Total coils 6-1/2 We were not given the loads desired when the springs were made, all we had to work with being a sample, which we duplicated and returned to Mr. Robotham. We will be glad to make forty of these parts for you if you will furnish us with a sample or a blueprint showing the spring with the necessary loads and the closing of the ends. This closing of the ends sticks in my mind as being somewhat different than the conventional closing used in this country. We are enclosing with this letter, specification of the wire which we intend to use on your springs. Yours very truly, BARNES GIBSON RAYMOND INC. Chief Engineer. FPZ:T Enc.
