8. TEMPERATURE OPERATED SWITCH. With reference to the attached Air Ministry communication No.2374 dated 16th-Sept. The device referred to, which is fitted at the present time to a limited number of our Bentley chassis, is an electrical cut out switch, operated by means of a built in 'bi-metal' strip. The unit is manufactured by - The British Thermostat Co.Ltd., Sunbury-on-Thames. The purpose for which it is used on the chassis section, is to break an electrical circuit, at a pre-determined circulating water temperature. This electrical circuit, controls the operation of a cold starting carburetter. We are passing for your attention one of these units. In conclusion, we wouldsay that our experience with the device has shown, that points of the permant magnet, as well as the main contact points, have to be completely free from any particles of foreign matter, otherwise, variation in operation will result.
