X9410 Mr. Beech. Mr. Hives. Test Dept. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.A.C.III. SECURING FRONT ROAD SPRINGS TO FRONT AXLE. It is absolutely necessary that the front spring clips should be well tightened up before the cars are delivered. During the running-in process of the chassis the spring tend to slacken somewhat under the clips, possibly due to small high points rubbing away, and also no doubt due to the fact that in the past we have oiled the springs all along. Our recent instructions not to oil the springs for a certain distance on each side of the centre bolt should assist matters. We should add a note to the drawing that the last job to do before despatch of the car is to ensure that the front spring clips are thoroughly well tightened up. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
