It seems as though our dynamometer bump test will give us the relative value of one make of spring over another, therefore the tests in France should be of the different design and proportion, rather than the different make, so that all springs should be the same make and design and only vary in stiffness i.e. :-

One car 12½% stiffer than old springs.

I think Woodheads seem the more consistent, and therefore this make would be better for road test.

The other make (Firths) should be brought in line, and proved equal on the bumping rig.
