This car has already gone to Park Ward and they realise the urgency of the work they are asked to do to it. We understand they will require the car for about three days, after which it will come to you, but we are arranging in any case to try it after the Park Ward modifications, to get an immediate impression of any improvement that may be brought about by these modifications.

I spoke to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} on the 'phone last evening, as the situation has changed a little since my conversation with you. The position is -

(1) We find we can release 34-EX immediately, as has been done ;

(2) We hope this may make it possible for you to adhere to the original arrangement of our being able to try 33-EX by about the end of this week, in order to accelerate any tests that are awaited.

(3) We have to send our only Trials Car, 35-EX, abroad at the end of this month for several weeks, which will leave us without a car unless you are able to do what you wish to 34-EX and let us have it back by the end of this month, which we hope you will be able to do. By that time possibly you will have at least one of the two new experimental cars on the road, for which we have already supplied you with bodies.

However, the chief point is concerning 34-EX, and the possibility of our having it back in London by the 26th January.

So far as 33-EX (the red car) is concerned, as explained yesterday, we are ready to try this as soon as you like now, and will await further news as to when this car will be coming to London. We should like however, as explained to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, to have it in London for two or three days so as to become thoroughly familiar with the car and not be called upon to make up our minds about any changes in it after
