Messrs. Clayton Dewandre Ltd.,
Titanic Works,
Lincoln.

For the attention of Mr. Blomeley.

Dear Sirs,

We are returning to you a 'CC' type car heater together with switch for which you sent us a replacement heater and of which we had complained of back draught from the fan.

Unfortunately the writer did not take steps to make sure that this trouble was genuine but merely relied on the 'feel' of the air around the periphery of the fan suction. Actually, if this is done the cool air creates a physical illusion and gives the feeling of being blown out from the heater. We have now checked the flow of air by means of smoke and on each of the 'CC' heaters, the old one and the new one which you sent us, the air definitely flows into the fan over the whole of the inlet.

We regret the trouble which you have been put to over this matter, and thank you for your attention to same.

We are returning the old heater to you and retaining the new one because we wish you to inspect some of the heaters which we are running on experimental cars (five in all, one 'CC' type, the others SC.2.A); we have one complaint to make about three of same. The control of the heater either when fitted new, or after running for some time, does not function correctly - i.e. the heater fan does not start to revolve until the switch is half way round its range and full speed is often not obtained. Further, the speed does not always remain constant. Our electricians have investigated one of these heaters and are of the opinion that the spring load on the brushes was too high. Further, they state
