(1) COMPLAINTS OF SLOW RUNNING ON WATFORD E.6 MAGNETO.

Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}9/AG23.12.21 and Messrs North's letter of 22/12/21, reference CHK/EH.

It was agreed to ratify the proposals contained in the above mentioned letter of Messrs North & Sons, but the meeting were of the opinion that their proposals did not go far enough. It was thought that Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} should some time in the near future press the matter further with a view, firstly, to getting all outside complaints re E.6 Magnetos put right by Watford, i.e. they would give us an E.0.6 in exchange for the E.6 complained of; we should bear expense of fitting etc. and secondly, with a view to reducing our other 150 left in stock.

The Committee agreed that all cars in future should be erected with E.0.6 as soon as a stock is received, i.e. 150 Magnetos of E.0.6 type promised in above letter from Messrs Norths. It was agreed that a further Works Committee should be called on this question in two months' time.

The Works Committee would like to suggest to CJ. that he give instructions as soon as possible to Depots and Inspectors etc. that -

(a) We do not think it fair on Norths that we should spread broadcast that anyone can have his E.6 changed for an E.0.6. This might entail Norths having to change about 2000 Magnetos, an expense they could not bear at this moment.

(b) For the above reason we think it is essential that as few Magnetos as possible should be changed, and we think it is essential that Depots and Inspectors should first be convinced
