History of Modifications to Bearings and their Lubrication on Bentley.

(1) 3 1/2 Litre Bentley.
A to F series. 25.6.33 to 30.1.36.
Connecting rod and main bearings in W/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} No grooves in intermediate main bearings. Single .2187 dia. hole in each crankshaft journal and crankpin.

(2) 4 1/4 Litre Bentley.
G to 81st. H series. 30.1.36 to 22.8.36.
(a) Connecting rod and main bearings in Halls solid AC7 material. Partial grooves on the intermediate main bearings. Single .2187 dia. hole in each crankshaft journal and crankpin.

(b) 82nd. H series to 192 on J series. 22.8.36 to 20.2.37.
Partial grooves made continuous on intermediate main bearings.

(c) From 193rd. in J series. 20.2.37.
Sectional dimensions of the intermediate main bearing grooves increased from .025 x .100 to .050 x .125.

(d) From 1st. in K series. 25.3.37.
Increased capacity helical gear oil pump fitted.

(e) From 33rd. in K series. 17.4.37.
An extra and opposite hole drilled in each crankshaft journal making 2 - .2187 dia. in each.

(f) From 176th. in K series. 7.8.37.
Existing single .2187 dia. hole in each crankpin deleted and 2 holes .125 dia. introduced.

Connecting rod bearing bush having 1 centre hole, for feeding up the rod in place of original 2 holes.

In conjunction groove in connecting rod deleted.
