It is important that when engaging 1st gear the 2nd speed sliding pinion should pick up the reverse shaft before 1st gear engages, according to the N.Sch. by .075. On the box built up to drawing they both engaged simultaneously. The length of the torsionally free 1st and 2nd pinion should therefore be shortened by .075 on the drawing.
