Regarding S.W.R.. Cranes. I am sorry I do not know Mr. Collet, and do not know how I can help, perhaps it would be good to ask Mr Hulley if he would go, if you could arrange an appointment with the assistant Engineer Mr Collet, to find out if the cranes we are quoting for were suited to their requirements. Another idea would be to send the prints to me so that you could say in your letter Mr. Royce had examined the designs, but regretted that imperfect health prevented him visiting Swindon but that another of our Directors Mr R S Hall or Mr Med. E.J.C. would be pleased to do so. If they wished, You will see how extremely important it is that our designs are beyond criticism and of equal or more importance than lowness of price. It has occurred that you might consult with Mr. Cole as to the advisability of offering them a self sustaining spiral Keyed friction brake at an extra price as extra security, to either take the full load or say 2/3rds so as to make it easy for the brake to hold & more regular in the time of pulling up. If such a device could be fitted where it was not too heavy & costly, on the motor driven wheel, it might be worth its cost for extra security &c 3 idea here. I expect we shall be seeing you at Mr. Claremonts Office on Thursday Afternoon. Many thanks for your father's letter.
