Dear Sir,

3 Phase Brake Solenoid.

With further reference to your letter of the 15th instant and subsequent notes and sketches re the above, we now have pleasure in sending you herewith blue prints of our layouts Nos. B.171 and B.171.A.

B.171 shows the general layout of the magnet while B.171.A. gives a few alternative suggestions in connection with the piston and terminal box detail.

The terminals have been based on the suggestions contained in your letter of the 19th instant. You will notice however that we have suggested mounting the cable socket on a piece of extruded metal. We think this is necessary as, assuming the terminal plate is .1" thick metal, we should only have three threads for our screw. The extruded metal mount also serves to lift the cable socket clear of the terminal base which it is necessary to do if the sockets are to be fitted back to back. Sample socket No. M.19808 is enclosed.

We agree, now that we understand your scheme of coils, that the narrow box as suggested by you in your letter of the 3rd instant, is amply wide enough and you will note that we have gone back to the same.

We have made provision for the box to be held up by two 1/2" studs either at the top or bottom and have shown two 1/2"
