1020 c. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}7/MH.{M. Huckerby} 20th. January, 1939. Messrs. Vandervell Products Ltd., Western Avenue, Park Royal, LONDON, W.3. For the attention of Mr. Johnson. Dear Sirs, Regarding the 2.75 dia. journal crank (L.1118) which we are testing out with your bearings in conjunction with the thrust washers EXS.1342, we find that the centre web is not wide enough to keep to your dimensions to retain the thrust washers. We propose, therefore, that on this one unit we reduce the dimensions of the case from 1.686 - 1.687 to 1.600-1.601, which means that we shall have to make up by thicker thrust washers .137 thickness. In view of this will you please make up and send us 4 sets of thrust washers .137 thickness, otherwise as EXS.1342. Our drawing of the crank damp bush B.2301, has been mislaid and we would be obliged if you could supply us with another. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
