Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, For the attention of E.W. Hives Esq. With reference to our Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Russell Sharp's conversation with you a few days ago, we understand that you may be requiring supplies of Mobiloil at Chateauroux for use during a trial on a Rolls Royce car in France. If you would be good enough to inform us when your representatives are likely to commence the tests, and the grades you would require available, we shall be pleased to communicate with our friends in Paris asking them to confirm through their local branch that adequate stocks of the oils you desire will be available immediately. So far as the engine and gearbox are concerned we assume you have in mind testing Mobiloil "D", as employed on the Bentley. In view of the latest experience regarding extreme pressure lubricants, we assume that after the initial works test period on Mobiloil "EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}" you will be filling the back axle with Mobiloil "C" or a normal gear oil of that nature. Your comments in this regard would be appreciated for the aforesaid purpose of arranging supplies. Yours faithfully, VACUUM OIL COMPANY LIMITED. W. Stafford May Manager.
