H 14 OCT 1935 H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from FBS.{F. Bell-Scott} FBS{F. Bell-Scott}14/WH. 11.10.35. Re:- Chassis No. GAF-20. F.{Mr Friese} Bernard Clark, Esq. Your H15/RH.{R. Hollingworth}7.10.35. Herewith history of GAF-20 to date:- The Standard Letter dated 18th April, 1935, mentioned in paragraph five of your above was not sent to owner as I had previously been in correspondence with him. In reply to a letter from me dated 27.3.35 he wrote as follows:- "Thank you very much for your letter of 27th ultimo, which contains the information I want. Being an engineer by trade, I have naturally always hoped that one day I should own a perfect piece of mechanism as the Rolls-Royce car, and I am naturally very delighted with it". I called on 17.5.35 to inspect car but owner was from home with it. Owner 'phoned on 15.6.35 and asked for someone to come over to Aldridge to attend to some defects on the chassis. I was on holiday but Fisher called and attended to the battery ignition and cured a thump in the brake. I 'phoned owner on 21.6.35 and offered to go over and test car on road with him. He said he had arranged to send the car to Thrupps on 24.6.35 to have "no end of body rattles remedied" and would rather I tested the car with him after re-delivery. Owner 'phoned on 29.7.35, said he had received car back from Thrupps after being there three weeks and that it was no better. I promised to call next day and immediately 'phoned Geo. Heath Ltd., of the position. Their Mr. Cozens agreed to call upon owner with me together with Thrupp & Maberly's representative, a Mr. Clarke. Called upon owner, as per above arrangement, on 30.7.35 tried car on road and found absolutely nothing wrong with the body whatsoever. Found, however, a very nasty knock in the bonnet and another in the o/s front shock damper. The - 1 - | ||
