- 2 - bonnet appeared to be twisted and we were unable to cure the knock. Suggested to owner that the car be sent into W. for the bonnet to be refitted and the o/s front shock damper to be changed and he readily consented to do so on 7.8.35 (in this connection please see my diary of Tuesday 30th July last). As owner did not send the car to W. on the date promised, I 'phoned him. He said it had not been convenient to send the car in but that he would do so later on in the month. Car was sent into W. on 22.8.35 at 9,799 miles. The engine was decarbonised, bonnet refitted, o/s shock damper changed, brakes adjusted, clutch relined, riding control attended to and, according to W. "a number of fiddling jobs carried out". Called upon owner 10.10.35. He said:- "The car is very nice and there is nothing wrong with it at all. The only adverse criticism I can offer is that the front springing seems to be on the hard side. As, however, I have not definitely made up my mind that it really is so I want to run the car for another month before coming to a final decision". On my asking owner if his wife had ever thought of purchasing a Bentley, he said:- "Good gracious no, she only uses a small car". My reason for not having sent in a report in reference to this owner is because I deemed it inexpedient to do so until the case was finally dealt with, half a story being no use to anybody. FBS.{F.
