X3548 91 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Dal/M15.12.22. "STORK" & "HERON" FOUR WHEEL BRAKES X.4550. We send you herewith N.sch. 1363 shewing the temporary bracket for bottom front shock absorber ball to enable you to fit the shock absorber to an existing forging as taken from Ns.{Norman Scott}ch.1317. We think you may have such a forging before you received N.sch.1326, and therefore would require some adaptation of the ball end. We are not quite certain what has actually happened, that is to say, whether you got a forging before you got N.sch.1326, or if so whether you drilled it, and therefore we have shewn on N.sch.1363 the radius rod ball end in the position of N.sch. 1317, and leave it to you to put it in the exact position of existing pieces. We also shew on this scheme the enlarged top ball end which is applicable to all "Stork" and "Heron" cars, and the slightly different set in the shock absorber lever which we now require.
