S. 235 (100H (M 96. 24.2.10) E.P. 6128. Silencers Contd. (2) Mr Swetnam submitted a drawing showing this nozzle attached to the side of the silencer instead of underneath. It was suggested that a better scheme was to carry a pipe from the rear end of the silencer to the back part of the chassis over the axle. Mr Platford had a pipe of this description on test and promised to report at the next meeting. 95th Meeting Dec. 7th.11. Mr Swetnam submitted a scheme for an exhaust pipe to be carried from rear silencer to the back of the chassis. Mr Platford had one of these on test and reported that the power was reduced when compared with our standard in a proportion of 9 to 7, but the exhaust was quiet. The Committee suggested some modifications, consisting of :- 1. Easier bends to the exhaust pipe. 2. The replacement of the cast Snout at the end by a light sheet steel flat nozzle. 3. The diameter of the pipe to be increased to 2". | ||
