RF 415A (100 H) (X 361. 28.11.11) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2195. SILENCERS. 61st Meeting Oct. 20th.11. Explosions in the silencer. Minute of 32nd Meeting. Mr Hallam pointed out that a number of customers are complaining re the above subject, and he suggests better fitting piston valves as a cure. Mr Wormald submitted Mr Hallam's suggestion and sketch to the Committee. The Committee discussed this matter and consider the scheme good. It is, however, open to the objection that the valve only seals one half of the throttle and the other half is capable of leakage, because of the piston being perforated. The Committee decided to ask Mr Swetnam to consider a design of throttle which will allow of shutting off the carburetter as at present and also allow of a further movement which will open some ports admitting air to the cylinder. Scott Robinson and Trier Martin Multi-jet carburetters are constructed to give the effect mentioned above. The Committee were informed that a drawing had been prepared and was waiting submission to Mr Royce. 74th Meeting Nov. 14.11. Explosions in the silencer. Mr Nadin informed the Committee that the drawing of this new throttle would be submitted at the next meeting. (See Throttle matters under Coronation Rattles.) 83rd Meeting Dec. 8th.11.
