Handwritten note: Everyone was very busy but 'R' had a phobia about being by-passed. H.S. took it as part of his job, even after R.F. had left - greatly to keep R informed & for this the way was right to R.{Sir Henry Royce} Doubtless at R would fain have had H.S. with him all the time but this he managed to avoid, though his proper place was at the works where the main H.S. action took place.

Re. PROGRESS.

Many thanks for your kind letter. I was wondering what had become of R.R. at W.W.

I have received some word from Mr. Rowledge about the work he has in hand and have sent you my views.

I have had one or two memos. from Mr. Hives about the broken steering and front springs, but nothing of what is proposed shall be done from W.W.

I have not received any word of how H.S. and all of you are getting along with brakes, which naturally is my greatest source of anxiety.

Will you kindly send me reports every week of work done and progress made. This will ask H.S. to do likewise.

It will be better to let me know good or bad that I may help you with suggestions.

I have also received no blue prints of say gearbox work, and what C.J. has decided about Goshawk side lever box. Is it to be 3 speed or 4 speed?

You will see there is much I should be hearing and something should arrive every few days of what is happening.

Still very wet here also, but today beautiful.
R.{Sir Henry Royce}
