For the attention of Mr. Martin-Hurst.

Dear Sirs, Thermostats - Parts No. E.86612.

We thank you for your letter of the 16th inst., and for the recommendations mentioned in it. We are proposing to alter the design of our water temperature regulating thermostat, as far as is practicable, in order to use bellows which you consider a production proposition, and will communicate with you when this has been done.

Meanwhile, we should like to receive any information which you can give us on the following points -

(a) What is the minimum length of bellows which you consider suitable for a temperature range of 7°C. (75°C. to 82°C.) BETWEEN open and closed positions of main valve. (b) What are the normal temperature ranges (i.e., from main valve closed, bypass open to main valve open, bypass closed) in the case of the majority of instruments of this type which you make, and what are the corresponding cooling water temperature variations.

Referring in order to the points which you enumerate at the end of your letter, we should like to sum up our ideas thus -

(1) We have fixed the opening temperature at 75°C. we will attempt to provide an adjustment as suggested.
