Cox - Advertising Manager} RECEIVED 5 JUL 1937 Major Cox, Sales Manager, Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Conduit Street, W.1. Dear Major Cox, re Last Dynamic Transmission. --------------------------- I have to confirm my conversation with you over the telephone yesterday. Mr. Last informs me that whilst he has, of course, drawings showing the transmission, he is of the opinion that without the additional submission of extensive mathematical data, the drawings alone would not serve the desired purpose. He would therefore much prefer the opportunity of interviewing your Technical Engineer at Derby, when he would bring all necessary particulars. Mr. Last assures me that it is much more difficult to design the transmission for a small car than for a larger one, and that the device would weigh no more than an ordinary gear box and clutch. He is not a "crank", but a practical engineer, and I therefore trust that you will endeavour to impress on your Technical Engineer the fact that if Mr. Last is prepared to spend the necessary time and money in going to Derby, knowing quite well the high standard of work which you require, then it must be worth while for him to be granted the few minutes desired interview.
