THE LAST DYNAMIC TRANSMISSION.

The transmission has the characteristics to be expected of a secondary motor in which means are provided for mechanically storing, independently of both input and output, a charge of energy, of periodically fluctuating value, and replenished as required by the engine, the charge continually tending to exhaust itself through the output at whatever torque, up to a designed maximum, as necessary for this purpose.

The maximum output torque is some predetermined multiple of the engine torque, and the value of the output torque is at all times independent of the output speed, being proportionate to the square of the engine speed.

This characteristic renders the transmission specially appropriate for use with a wholly or partly constant torque prime mover of the petrol engine type.

The efficiency is inherently high and depends upon a quality of workmanship comparable with that applied to good grade roller bearings.

The essential elements are a pair of 6 lobed cams and 4 oscillator units, running in an oil-bath, and all being capable of production by standard machining methods.

The output from the transmission is delivered through a forward-neutral-reverse gear unit, controlled by a hand lever of the usual type, having only three positions.

The operation of the transmission is self-controlled, no clutch being required.
