On LeC.5449 herewith we show the front pad which is an existing forging FB.2597/S. The central drilling has been modified to enable us to use special nickel steel counter sunk headed screws for attaching the transverse plate to the leaf of the spring. These are preferred to rivets which are used at present and which have been known to fail. On LeC.5447 herewith we show the pad of the rear spring. This unfortunately calls for a new forging as the spring is so much thinner than the present standard. Here again we have used nickel steel counter sunk headed screws for attaching the transverse clip plate to the leaf of the road spring.
