4057 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Hotel de France, CHATEAUROUX, France. 7/2/33. 3 PER. 11. We have to-day run the PER. car with 1 1/4 gallons of oil in the base chamber. There is no material difference in oil temperature. We have tried 1 gallon of oil with the same results that no material difference was noticed. The Pott's oil cooler will be fitted within the next few days. CARBURATION. You will see by to-day's report that we have been able to lessen the petrol consumption a little, the average being 12.5 for the day. EXHAUST SYSTEM. The exhaust joint of the down/pipe to the first silencer has cracked almost half way round at the top. This is the probable cause of the explosions reported as on the over run air would enter through crack. We shall to hold up the car while we get the joint rewelded. FILTER. The car ran very sluggish this morning, the fault being found due to the enots petrol filter being in a very dirty state. G.W.H. G.W.Hancock. | ||
