For the attention of V.S.Russell Esq..

Dear Sir,

Re. Electric Petrol Gauges.

Many thanks for your letter of the 17th. inst. We were very pleased you sent a print of the proposed scheme for the petrol gauge of the 18 gallon tank EXY.6551 as we note you have changed the position of the head of the petrol gauge to an impossible position.

The bodies of our cars overlap the petrol tanks. The position of the head of the tank unit must be the same as our present Hobson gauge.

Will you please therefore supply a gauge similar to the one you supplied on October 30th. 1931, except that a bend should be made in the float arm to miss the centre tube of the petrol tank.

This matter is now extremely urgent as we must be able to fit the tank on Wednesday next at the very latest.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
