X.4273 - STANDARD 40/50 STABALITE COIL FOR GOSHAWK.

Referring to your By {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /Ds3/ML20.8.23, it seems pretty certain that the cause of all these failures is the fault of the primary insulation.

Certainly no attempt should be made to use on a standard chassis a coil which has showed the slightest sign of it before the winding has been rectified.

It remains for us, if possible, to arrange a suitable test, of severity just sufficient to show up the fault in coils, two of which are in our possession, which have shown fault but do not appear to be permanently subject to it, i.e. to make the fault to become a definite fault, but of severity not too great to produce a fault in a coil which is likely to be perfectly O.K. This we are working on at the moment.
