1031 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}6/JH. 8th. May, 1939. The S.U. Carburetter Co.Ltd., Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM.8. Dear Sirs, In answer to your letter dated 1st. May. We note your remarks regarding fibre washers, and seem to remember that some time ago you stated that you were using a different quality fibre for the purposes mentioned. This might mean that there would be less shrinkage, which is our chief concern re fibre washers. Regarding the washers on the float chamber mounting, you will remember that on the H.V.5. the mounting is spigoted to prevent turning. This in turn was done because the hardening or shrinkage of fibre washers caused the float chambers to rattle loose. We would be much obliged if you could let us have a little more information regarding the change, which the writer believes you made in connection with the hardness of fibre for petrol joints. Yours faithfully, FOR-ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
