Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 22nd July, 1938. T.L. Turner, Esq., The Zenith Carburetter Co.,Ltd., Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, Middx. Dear Mr. Turner, 25/30 H.P. Stromberg Carburetters. Our London Service Station informs me that a charge of 10/9d is made by the Zenith Co. when a carburetter is sent back to them owing to a customer's complaint. It does not seem fair that we should have to bear the cost of removing the carburetter from the car, replacing it, and also pay the whole of the charges involved in rectifying the defects. The Administration are pointing out that we paid a very high price for carburetters in the first place, and, of course, from our point of view, we know that several of the modifications developed have been incorporated on your standard products; in particular, we refer to the tower on the float chamber and the alteration to the slow running device. Fortunately the number of carburetters to be dealt with does not seem to be very great, and, of course, all the known troubles seem now to have been dealt with satisfactorily so that all the cars at present going out on production will not require any alteration. We hope you will find it possible to co-operate with us in at least sharing the expense of satisfying customers who bought early 25/30 cars. Yours faithfully, | ||
