Front Suspension Parts B.III.

Leslie has been in communication with Hughes Johnson with regard to the cost of the main lever forgings for the B.III. As you know we have been using Packard for our model for this front suspension, and we find that all their levers are made in mild steel.

The attached sheet indicates that the difference in price between mild steel and 208A steel levers is as much as £2/3/7.

We know that the design is on the light side for mild steel, but this in a way is an advantage as it will enable us to increase the section where necessary if failures occur on bump tests.

From our conversation with you we gather you consider that we can get reliable supplies of mild steel, and that you agree we should go ahead testing in this material, and we are, therefore, carrying on on these lines.
