SECRET. 446 2008 By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Guc. HPOY Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Lcs E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M.9.7.37. BENTLEY III - FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER TRIANGLE REAR BEARING AND FRAME GUSSET. --------------------------------------------------- We send herewith N.Sch.5194 showing the rear bearing for the lower triangle of the front suspension of Bentley III. This scheme also shows the gusset in the front arm of the frame. The housing for the sphere consists of two steel castings. Whilst we have avoided the handing of the cap, it is unavoidable that we should hand the housing due to the peculiar disposition of the Packard lower triangle lever. The rubber is exactly that of the Packard car in our possession, and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Lcs. will supply you with the dimensions for the internal diameter of the housing and the external diameter of the sphere as well as the amount of radial compression of the rubber. This drawing shows also the gusset between the front suspension crossmember and the frame cross in its centre section. The riveting and the position of the hand holes may be subject to slight variation as further details of the chassis design are completed. Att: N.Sch.5194. E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
