HE. 1263 Dixon Gele PHANTOM 111 - RE: NEW SCHEME WITH HIGH PRESSURE PUMP FITTED IN THE FRAME. ------------------------- We are clear on this job, with the exception of a positive decision as to what can be done in regard to the use of the 3rd pump. In the discussion at the Conference Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} definite-ly stated the 3rd pump was to be the present type in the frame. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}, however, is producing a new 3rd pump scheme representing approximately one half of the new high pressure pump in the frame. The question arises as to whether this can be produced in sufficient time to enable it to be brought on at the same time as the high pressure pump in the frame. If it is simply a matter of us preparing the drawings and obtaining the material, then it lies between ourselves and the Order Office - it appears to me, however, that you will want some test. If this is the case then it would mean we would have to start off with the double high pressure pump in the frame and the present type of pump on the dash. It is important to get a decision on this matter without delay. One further point which demands immediate settlement is the type of switch. The original type of switch has been modified, a further one has been issued to the Test, and a point arises which switch is to be instructed with the pumps in the frame. The Order Office inform me that we have 200 of the present single type pumps, i.e. the 3rd pump, on order. If the new pump is to come in immediately this order would have to be cancelled. The material at S.U. can probably be transferred to the other types of chassis to make up the pumps required for these orders. The present type of double pump fitted to the dash is similar to that used on the 25/30, and therefore excess of these pumps can be transferred to the 25/30 HP. chassis. BY.{R.W.
