1138 V.{VIENNA} From H.A.T.A.S. c. Jmr. c. Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/TAS.{T. Allan Swinden}4/JMS.30.4.40. PETROL FILTERS ON EIGHT CYLINDER ENGINES. All eight cylinder engines fitted with electric petrol pumps will require some form of petrol filter between the pump and the carburettor. This is provided on scheme ECD.1432 in the form of a Wraith type filter clamped to the offside of the crankcase and separated from the carburettor by about 18" of fuel line. It is suggested that, in view of the danger of fuel boiling in this line, when the engine is standing hot, the filter be moved right up to the carburettor fuel entry, and if necessary, be supported by a bracket from the carburettor itself. We should be glad to have a modified scheme which would thus reduce as far as possible contact of the fuel line with the engine. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/TAS.{T. Allan Swinden} | ||
