For uniformity of production, i.e. in order not to have an additional standard, it is suggested temporarily to standard for the Goshawk the 40/50 coil exactly as it is (without alteration).

The ballast resistance used with the coil will be standard Goshawk ballast 25", this reduced length of ballast avoiding any possibility of misfiring at high speeds such as might occur in using exactly the 40/50 ignition on Goshawk.

It is only intended that this standardisation be effective until a further standard of the most approved coil construction for the Goshawk (in bakelite case) is arrived at. Our experiments have now nearly arrived at the stage when we feel we can produce a coil which will be O.K. under all road conditions, but of course it is necessary to confirm this by a large number of car miles before standardisation.
