Honeyman - Retail orders}19/IH.1.9.38. 3.B.5. 2.B.50. Your Ref: BY24/N.31.8.38. Thanks for the copy of your letter of yesterday to Park Ward & Co. Will you please note as follows:- (1) 3.B.5. BACK LAMPS. - We are in touch with possible suppliers of suitable lamps, and will do our best to obtain a pair in good time. (2) Roof of 3.B.5. - There is practically 100% demand for a Sunshine Roof on the Bentley. We have told Park Ward today this body should have such a roof. (3) Wings of 2.B.50. - If the rear wings are as shown in PD.224, the front wings should also harmonise, which means they in turn must be like those in the same drawing, PD.224. When the body was ordered we went into the question of the wings being of a more modern shape than those of 1.B.50, but as it meant scrapping the existing wing jigs, and consequent expense and delay, we then reluctantly agreed to accept wings as those of 1.B.50. Since then there have been changes in the chassis, including an increase in wheel track, which necessitates an increase in the overall width of the wings. This calls for alterations to the wing jigs. We have ascertained that further alterations to permit of the front and back wings being as in PD.224 can be effected economically and without increasing the delay already involved, so we have told Park Ward & Co. to go ahead.
