To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to C.J. Works H.S.✓ RECEIVED SEP 23 1921 ORIGINAL EL/021/9/21. X4222 X4221 RE "GOSHAWK II" CRANKSHAFT SPRING DRIVE. We send you herewith drawings Lec.1449 and Lec.1450 shewing the design of the new large type crankshaft pinion spring drive for "Goshawk II". We are sending this design on to you because it happened to be finished, but we are proceeding with a scheme whereby the friction for the slipper flywheel is separated from the crankshaft pinion drive to overcome the trouble mentioned in Mr. Hives' experimental report. Mr. Royce anticipated before leaving for his holidays, that the scheme we had got might not work, and that we should be forced to separate the friction. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
