X7960. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re 58-GN. Copy to Nor. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/E13.4.32 Thanks for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}S/MJ.11.4.32 relative to the steering. I was very much interested to hear you say the other day that you considered the steering on this car abnormally bad when you received the car at Derby. I drove the car at the week-end and was very favourably impressed with the improvement in the steering from the point of view of joggles. I did, however, feel that the steering was a good deal stiffer than previously - in fact rather more so than I thought one could reasonably accept. I gather, however, that the front tyres were found to be slightly down. PN{Mr Northey} has since tried the car for me and considered that it was quite free. I note you say that you think you still require additional friction on the column and that, when you have concluded some further experiments, you will like to have another go at 58-GN. I shall be driving the car again this week-end and, if I form any other impressions, I will let you know. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} [STAMP: RECEIVED] | ||
