To EY. from EFC. c. Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} X4117 EFC5/T4.9.24. X.3398 - P & R BATTERY EX CHASSIS 28-LK.{L. King} With reference to EY.2/H19.8.24, we have now opened up and carefully examined two cells of this battery and a detailed statement on the condition of these is contained in my assistant's report JB.62 herewith. It appears that the destroyed condition of the battery is entirely due to excessive vibration, due in its turn to faulty fixing of the battery. Evidently this has been a case of want of attention to a point of great importance in connection with batteries, which is known and appreciated by most. We feel sure that the conditions which have led to this state of the battery cannot be put up against Messrs. Peto & Radford. Then, as regards the repair which the owner says was made, this so-called repair was really in no sense a repair, but one of the poorest sort of faked up jobs which one has ever seen on batteries. The opened up portion of the battery may be inspected if desired. EFC. JB.62 attached. | ||
