re. Peto & Radford Batteries - Chassis 28-LK{L. King},
Mr. More, American Ambassador, Madrid.

We have received a report from Madrid with regard to the above car, and amongst other things there is a complaint of the battery. We give below an extract of a memo we have received from Madrid on this matter :-

"I also wish to draw your attention to the
"battery fitted to this car, which is com-
"pletely damaged through not being properly
"fitted either in the frame or sunk into the
"running boards, but on the top of the running
"boards held by two bolts.
"The battery fitted on the chassis is a Peto &
"Radford. All the connections were broken
"and also one of the cells empty through the
"battery rocking about. I have had this
"repaired and now having it properly fitted,
"but for fear it should give further trouble
"later I propose another battery should be
"sent out to Madrid. The Coachwork is made
"by Windovers.

We shall be glad to have your comments on this matter and what you think we should say in reply. It would appear that Madrid are of the opinion that we should send them another battery to replace this. Do you agree that this should be done, and to whom do you think the cost of replacement should be charged. Is there any possibility of getting a new battery from Messrs. Peto & Radford in view of the fact that Madrid are of the opinion that the trouble has been due to the unsatisfactory method of fixing the batteries.
