Re Spanner for Rear Axle Tube Nut. X.778

Initial of person addressed: Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}

26-2-14.

Will you please obtain one or more of the above Spanners that are used for removing the rear axle tube nuts on axles fitted with wire wheels.

Mr Platford reports that the pins on these spanners very easily bend or break out under ordinary conditions of service.

He also points out that the Spanners are not interchangeable.

If your tests confirm these points then we shall change the design for something more practicable.

Mr Nadin considers that this experiment should receive your early attention.

I have already found this spanner an inconvenient and inefficient tool. The spanner invariably springs out of engagement when the necessary pressure to turn the nut is applied. It is a bad tool and I think it highly desirable to provide something better.
