Thanks for E1/M26.2.31. I am glad to see what is being done in regard to exhaust manifolds for P.I's with the two different types of cylinder heads, for 20/25's and I note that as regards this in the programme of improvements.

I notice you mention that in the improved manifolds which you are preparing for submission to R.{Sir Henry Royce}, you are giving consideration to the use of cooling ribs which, as you say, are generally used by other people, and one wonders really why we have not adopted this practice before, or at least investigated its advantages or disadvantages.

If I remember correctly, I owned a mass production cheap car some three or four years ago which had cooling ribs on the exhaust manifold and which was in every way successful.
