When at W. yesterday I went fully into the question of future mods on 20/25's as affecting the next batch of material FE series and in connection with E/Lid{A. J. Lidsey}4/HP23.2.34. Dealing with the items in the order in which they appear in E/Lid{A. J. Lidsey}4/HP23.2.34 ENGINE We can apparently have :- (4) Modifications to balancing cam to provide additional lubrication, hardened camshaft and play washers - improved crankcase webbing - easier production assembly. (5) Side oil drain in engine sump to give increased ground clearance and greater accessibility. (6) Baffle in bottom half crankcase to prevent loss of oil pressure when braking - Bentley modification standardised on the last 10,000 ml. car. (7) Of the two alternatives we are to receive a fan already more silent than the present one. (8) Larger oil filler. (11) Oilite bush in front engine mounting- as Bentley - to delete lubrication point. CHASSIS (7) Petrol tank - sealed filler and separate vent. (8) Petrol tank - modifications to suit concealed luggage grid. (9) Strengthened accelerator pedal stop. (10) Semi isolation of floorboards - to prevent booming. (11) Spherical bearings for brake equaliser shafts- improved design and to facilitate production. (contd) | ||
