Please receive herewith :-
G.CD.913 Increased Hand Brake Travel.
This scheme has been drawn in accordance with memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}5.9.38, Item 1 and 2.
Two extra teeth have been added to the top end of the quadrant to give a travel at the hand lever knob of 11.000. inches. When the Girling wedge expanders are at the limit of their travel plus sponge in the mechanism there is approximately 1.250" of spare travel.
The pull off spring exerts a load of 5½ lbs. on the brake rod in the off position, this was previously 14 lbs. Spring GW.1990 is still used.
The rubber stop on the lever has been deleted to allow all the quadrant travel to be useful.
