RUBERY OWEN RR. FRAMES. Mr. Buckley, Chief Draughtsman, and Mr. Curmin, Works Manager of the Frame Department of Messrs. Rubery Owen, visited us on 21st. January, 1937, in connection with the manufacture of 25/30 H.P. frames and in order to discuss various points in connection with the two Wraith frames of their manufacture recently delivered. 25/30 Chassis Frame. Before going into details with regard to production, Mr. Buckley and Mr. Curmin went over the construction of the 25/30 frame with Mr. Turner and went fully into the question of material supplies and method of building, etc., the following procedure being recommended :- R.R. to supply templates for Rubery Owen to mark off frame sides. R.O. to drill frame sides free hand. R.O. to fit front and rear dumb irons. R.O. to return both front and rear dumb irons to be drilled and pegged in their respective jigs at our works. R.O. to do all brazing and filing up after brazing of cross-members. R.O. to machine and stretch crossmembers. R.O. to build up frame, stretch to our inspectors' satisfaction, paint and deliver to our Works. R.R. to supply 30 sets of all material required. It was impressed upon Mr. Buckley that there must be no hold up in production during the transitional period whilst Messrs. Rubery Owen are taking over manufacture, and he was informed we should not be prepared to release our main production jigs until such time as we have sufficient frames for two weeks' production from Messrs. Rubery Owen in our possession.
